Last week, Team Women had a booth at the Governor’s Conference for the second year in a row.  We routinely do booths at events highly attended by women to increase awareness of Team Women and grow all of your individual chapters.  This event sold out within three hours of the tickets becoming available and 11,000 were attending.

When we have a Team Women Booth, we ask local members in the target area to staff the booth with us to promote Team Women and their own business.  This year we had 3 members from our San Fernando Valley-West Chapter, one from our Fountain Valley Chapter and a fourth from our Irvine Chapter.

This year they added an extra night to give attendees more time to visit all of the exhibitors and spend time networking.   Because parking was a real issue, the Long Beach Convention Center provided off site parking and trams to take people back and forth to the event.

Stacey Parzik, Founding President of TW SFV-West worked the booth on Friday night and at the end of the evening was taking the tram back to her car.  She noticed the two women sitting across from her in the tram were looking at her necklace and speaking quietly to each other.  We got the following email from Stacey the next morning!

“You know the Cookie Lee necklace I was wearing yesterday?  Well I have had it maybe 7 years or so and yesterday was the 1st time in ages I had worn it!  Ended up sitting right across the aisle from Cookie Lee herself on the shuttle bus back to the parking lot after the Women’s conference last night…she recognized the piece, and said to her friend, “I told you that woman had on vintage Cookie Lee”  too funny huh? (She thought Team Women sounded great btw) She was a really lovely woman, and I gave my card to her CEO whose baby is turning 1 on 11/2 :)  Ended up being a good networking necklace!”

Once again, this shows how we are always networking and be open to the possibilities it can provide for us and our Team Members in our Businesses!

It is no surprise I love networking!  One of my son’s was applying for a job today in an upscale retail clothing store. He got the interview because a friend who he went to high school with works there.  She introduced him to all the managers and said she had known him for seven years and was a very hard worker.

As we were driving to the interview, he said to me “it is all in who you know.” And I could not agree more.  Networking works!  Number one is in building your business and also in lots of other great ways.

This past Tuesday I attended the kick off of Team Women San Antonio, TX.  And I saw the wonderful power of people coming together and supporting each other.  Here is what happened.

There was a realtor there, Agatha, who had debated on whether or not to attend.  Her core profession was already filled.  She decided to come anyway and learn what Team Women was all about.  Her husband’s cousin collects state quarters.

Sitting next to her was a new member, Susan, who is a graphic artist.  Susan was sharing she is one of 23 artists who are commissioned by the US Mint to design new quarters.   Susan pulled her latest design out of her purse to show us.  It was the new Alaska quarter and was in a collector sleeve and signed!

Agatha was totally impressed and asked where she could get one.  Susan explained often new quarters do not make it into circulation since the collectors buy all of them.  She asked Susan where she could get on and Susan said “you can have this one and handed it to Agatha.”  The word which came to mind watching Agatha’s face was AGOG! She was totally excited and thanks Susan over and over.

Now maybe it is just me, but I believe a relationship was formed there.  And the next time Agatha needs any graphic services, any guess who she will call?  I share this today because it is just one example of women helping women which is the goal of Team Women.

Keep networking and you never know what may come your way!

Pikes Market

In the September ezine I shared a technique for goal setting I learned from the book “The Four Hour Work Week.” Here are the steps and I am practicing them to see for myself how they work:

I am going to share a method the author gives to ensure you meet your goals:

1. Pick one of the three goals you have chosen.
2. Write it at the top of a piece of paper.
3. Choose one step you can take now to move you closer to that goal and do it immediately.
4. Choose a second step you can take in the next 24 hours and do it by 11 am tomorrow.
5. Choose a third step you can take in the next 24 hours and do it by the following day by 11am.
6. When this is done, choose three more steps and repeat them.

I also said one of my goals was to blog regularly (at least twice weekly) and I am going to share how I am using this method to accomplish this goal.

Goal: At least two blog posts weekly to the Team Women Blog

1. Have date added to blog for accountability- sent email to web person to add date function. In the meantime, I will add date to my post.

2. Write a blog post about visit to Team Women Henry County this week – done and will be posted this evening.

3. Go on record with this goal by posting this commitment on the blog itself. – done and will be posted by Thursday.

Try this method of goal setting and let me know how it works for you. It is about taking small steps very quickly which add up to getting you there!

Cheers,
Judi
